Eight hours at a desk, head drifting toward the screen, shoulders rounding, lower back aching by evening — desk-worker’s posture causes much of the neck and back pain physiotherapists see. Ten focused minutes a day, done consistently, can reverse months of postural decline.

How Sitting All Day Wrecks Your Posture

Physiotherapist guiding a patient through rehabilitation at Alnoor Clinic

  • Forward head posture — for every inch your head drifts forward, neck muscles carry ~4–5 kg extra load.
  • Rounded shoulders — chest tightens, upper back weakens.
  • Slouched lower back — discs loaded unevenly; afternoon aching.
  • Tight hip flexors, sleepy glutes — pelvis unsupported when standing.
